The concept for the restoration was developed by Jef Braekmans from Vorselaar, who supervised the progress of the programme.
The project was executed by Jean-Pierre Draps from Kortenberg. He used the skills of the company Ghislain Potvlieghe-De Maeyer from Ninove for specialised restoration work on pipes and the fabrication of new pipes. Intonation of the stops was made in cooperation with Gert Van Buuren.
The project was executed from 1993 till 1995.
Total cost amounted to BEF 10,15 Mio (~~255.000 €)
The goal was returning to the situation of 1839 for the case, the traction, the soundboards and the console.
The wind supply, however, is now provided by a ventilator with electrical motor.
The stops were repaired or fabricated according to the pitch, tuning and character of the 1720 style.
This necessitated a lowering with a half tone of the stops of TH. Smet. To maintain the original relation scaling to tuning, all pipes in these stops were shifted one place and a new C pipes were fabricated.
The organ case was repaired and stabilised at the beginning of the restoration.
The original soundboard in oak of J.B.-Forceville was retained with the added grooves of Th. Smet.
Some stops needed completion (as Fourniture-Cymbal-Cornet), others had to be reconstructed (Voix Humaine).
The keyboards and the pedal were renewed in accordance with a historical model, Van Peteghem, early 18th century.
The wind supply unit and wind channels were reconstructed according to the original situation.
